Saskatchewan Mining and Minerals Inc. (SMMI) grew in strength with the appointments of four key individuals to its Advisory Board.
Brad Wall, Tom Ebbern, Barry Heck and Beth Reimer-Heck take their seats, each with specific roles in hand, to help guide SMMI into the future.
Mr. Wall held the post of Saskatchewan Premier from 2007-18 and is well-regarded as being a champion of the province’s resource-based industries, making him a perfect fit for SMMI. The University of Saskatchewan honours graduate is now an advisor for the Calgary law firm Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt LLP. His expertise in government relations will help assist SMMI in critical endeavours moving forward.
Mr. Ebbern has an extensive and diverse background in the Canadian energy sector and in capital markets, highlighted by his instrumental CFO and Strategic Advisor role in fundraising billions of dollars of debt and equity for the construction of the NWR Sturgeon Refinery, built by Alberta’s North West Refining Inc. The Queen’s University geophysics and Western University masters of business administration graduate has held Director positions at each of Tristone Capital, Macquarie Capital Markets Canada, Nexen Inc., Repsol Canada, the Athabasca Oil Corporation, CSV Midstream Solutions and Hightowers Petroleum Co. He brings expertise as a finance executive to SMMI.
Mr. Heck is the nearing a decade as President and CEO of WinSport in Calgary. The University of Alberta law graduate has chaired on the boards of the Alberta Enterprise Corporation and the Alberta Economic Development Authority and was for many years the President and CEO of The Westaim Corporation. Also currently the president of EL Merchant Capital, he brings general finance and business knowledge to SMMI.
Beth Reimer-Heck is Corporate Director and Senior Counsel at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Canada’s largest law firm, having served domestic and international clients at its Calgary office since 2009. The University of Calgary, University of Exeter and University of Alberta graduate boasts experience as director at the United Way of Calgary and Area and at Kiwetinohk Energy Corp. The longtime Senior Counsel for Telus until 2005 brings legal prowess to SMMI.
